Project Mechanical Engineer – EPC Projects
The Project Mechanical Engineer, EPC Projects is responsible for overseeing the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of mechanical systems for large-scale projects, with a focus on power generation and/or process facilities. This role ensures that mechanical designs, equipment, and installations meet project specifications, standards, and timelines.
The Project Mechanical Engineer, EPC Projects collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, procurement, contractors, and clients, to deliver successful and cost-effective project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Design

Review and interpret mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications, and assist senior project engineers with schedule and cost approvals

Provide technical input during design, including technical and commercial evaluations of mechanical systems and engineering documentation such as design reports and technical submittals

Act as the single point of contact for all EPC project and proposal mechanical engineering efforts
Procurement and Vendor Coordination

Specify and evaluate mechanical materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery

Review supplier technical documentation for compliance with applicable standards and project requirements
Construction and Execution

Supervise on-site mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning activities

Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support during construction
Quality Assurance and Compliance

Ensure all mechanical work adheres to local and international standards

Conduct inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for mechanical systems
-
Verify compliance with safety standards and ensure all activities meet EH&S regulations
Project Coordination and Communication

Collaborate with project managers, discipline engineers, and subcontractors to align construction activities with overall project goals

Provide progress updates and technical reports to stakeholders

Assist in preparing project handover documentation, including as-built drawings and operation manuals
Required Skills and Qualifications

Familiarity with PFDs, P&IDs, and mass and energy balances
-
Experience with mechanical equipment sizing and selection, including pumps, valves, heaters, and related systems

Ability to interpret mechanical installation drawings and specifications

Proficiency in mechanical design software, including AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools
-
Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards, including ASME B&PV, ASME B31, API, and IEEE
-
Familiarity with power plant piping systems and design

Experience with combustion turbine or steam turbine systems is preferred

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments

Strong communication and technical writing skills
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
-
Ten or more years of mechanical engineering experience within EPC projects, preferably in oil and gas, energy, power generation, or infrastructure industries
Additional Requirements

Combination of office-based and on-site work at construction locations
-
Frequent travel to project sites, including remote or international locations
-
Exposure to challenging environments, including high-voltage areas and harsh conditions
