Relocating Frame Turbines

Relocating Frame Turbines

Energy Services has helped many customers over the years take advantage of the remaining life in serviceable assets. This is especially important in today’s environment, as relocating and revitalizing gas turbines is often the most cost effective and fastest way to implement the short-term firm capacity required to support an energy portfolio with ever-expanding renewables. One example of this firm capacity is a peaking power plant in Nevada, where Energy Services relocated six W501AA frame turbines from three sites in Japan to one site in the Reno area.

The turnkey scope of work included:

  • Dismantling, packaging, and transporting the W501AA turbines, generators, and control houses
  • The supply and installation of 6 new SCRs, new evaporative cooling systems, new demineralized water tanks, new forwarding pumps, rented mobile water treatment trailers, as well as other balance of plant equipment
  • The supply and installation of natural gas piping and interconnection to each turbine
  • The supply and installation of all medium voltage electrical cabling, trays, and switchgear
  • The supply and installation of 3 GSU transformers
  • the supply and installation of the 320 kV high voltage substation
  • A complete control system upgrade for each turbine and
  • The erection and full integration of the central control / administration building.
